Latest Works

My wife is training to run a 1/2 marathon this summer for Team Challenge, and in fundraising I wanted to make a few pieces that we could sell to help her reach her goal. All donations go towards Team Challenge, which works in conjunction with the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America.

Each illustration in this series was referenced from an x-ray or CT scan of a patient who was diagnosed with Crohn's or Colitis. I used patterned paper by Tim Holz, and cardboard for depth.

Bovey Lee

Bovey Lee

How have I been doing this for a few years without finding Bovey Lee? Born in Hong Kong, school in the US and living in Pittsburgh, Lee finds that middle gap between traditional paper cutting techniques with fresh subject matter and digital arts. I imagine she renders everything in photoshop / illustrator, but her pieces are all 1 large sheet of rice paper or tyvek or what have you, usually white. Works from '05 - '09 were intensly detailed (Atomic Jellyfish, Tsunami series), sprawling landscapes with surreal objects morphing in and out. Recent work is more focused on space, simplified / complex use of paper (Butterfly Gown series!)
